TL;DR: Hiring a designer for every new page adds up fast. Here is how business owners can build and edit their website themselves, in plain English, and keep that money in their own pocket.
You no longer need to spend hours dragging widgets around to build a WordPress page. Instead, connect Claude Desktop to your WordPress admin’s Elementor MCP, describe the page you want, and watch the new page appear in your editor. Want to change something later? Just keep talking to Claude in the same chat, and it will edit the page for you.
What is Elementor MCP?
Elementor is a popular page builder plugin for WordPress. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI tools like Claude connect to other software. Elementor MCP, officially launched on September 23, 2026, lets Claude build directly inside your WordPress site using Elementor’s own page structure. What you get is a normal, editable WordPress page, the same as one you would build by hand.
Everything Claude generates is saved as a draft and never published automatically, so you can try things on a live site without worry.
What you need before you start
- A web hosting account with WordPress installed
- The Elementor plugin installed and up to date within your WordPress admin
- Claude Desktop installed on your computer and signed in to your own Claude account
- HTTPS on your site (recommended, since login credentials are involved)
Not sure what any of this means? We can set it all up for you at no extra charge on our web hosting plans.
Step 1: Enable MCP in WordPress
- Log in to your WordPress admin panel.
- Go to Elementor > Elementor MCP.
- Click Enable MCP access.
- Choose Claude Desktop as your AI client.
- Tick the acknowledgment checkbox and click Generate Prompt.
- Click Copy prompt.
Elementor creates the required application password in the background and places it inside the prompt for you. Keep this prompt private, just like a password. Don’t share it or paste it anywhere public.
Step 2: Paste the prompt into Claude Desktop
Open Claude Desktop, start a new chat, and paste the prompt you copied. This connects Claude to your WordPress site.
Then run a quick test:
“List the pages on my WordPress site and tell me which ones are built with Elementor.”
If Claude replies with your real pages, you are connected. If it doesn’t work, fully quit Claude Desktop, reopen it, and try again.
Step 3: Generate pages with prompts
Now, in Claude Desktop, type your page building request as a prompt (see the example just below). The quality of your result depends on how specific your prompt is, so give Claude the business, the audience, the sections, and the tone.
Example: Prompt for a one-pager bio for an accounting company
Create a one-page WordPress website for Mitchell & Brooks CPA, an accounting firm in Austin, Texas.
Sections:
- Hero: firm name, a short tagline, and a "Book a consultation" button
- About Us: short company bio and founding year
- Services: tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, audit support, and business formation, shown as icon cards
- Numbers strip: years of experience, clients served, and returns filed
- Team: three partners
- Testimonials: client reviews
- Contact: address, phone, email, and a simple contact form
Design:
- Tone: professional, calm, and trustworthy
- Clean layout with plenty of white space
Images:
- Get all images from Unsplash that match an accounting and office theme
- Add them to the WordPress media library
- For the three partners, use demo professional portrait photos from Unsplash as placeholders
- Name the partner image files with "placeholder" in the filename, so I can find and replace them with real team photos before publishing
Output:
- Save as a draft
- At the end, remind me which images are placeholders that need to be replaced
Example: editing an existing page
“Open my About page. Rewrite the intro to sound more friendly, add a team section with four members, and keep the existing colors and fonts.”
Example: planning a full site
“Plan a five page WordPress website for a local dental clinic: Home, Services, About, Contact, Blog. Build the Home page first and show me the result before continuing.”
How to copy the look of an existing site
You don’t have to describe a design from scratch. Point Claude at a site you like and ask it to borrow the look.
“Look at https://example.com and note its color palette, fonts, button style and spacing. Create the same style for my new page, but use my own content. Do not copy the text or images.”
A few things to know:
- If Claude cannot open the site, it may be blocking AI tools. Try another similar site, or upload screenshots of the site and say “match this style”.
- If you already have a site and are adding a new page to it, just say “use the existing global colors and fonts from my site” and the new page will match your current design.
- Copy the style only. Never reuse another website’s text, images or logo.
Tips for better results
- Build one page at a time. Big “build my whole site” prompts give messy output. If your site has multiple pages, start with the home page. Once you are satisfied with it, move on to the other pages.
- Review the draft in WordPress. Open it in the editor, check how it looks on mobile, and fix small things by hand.
- Use your real content. Paste in your actual text, prices and contact details so there is less cleanup later.
- Make changes in small steps. “Make the hero taller and change the button text” works better than rewriting the whole prompt.
- Test on a staging site first if you are working on a live or client site. Our shared hosting plans include a WordPress staging feature, so you can safely try things on a copy before touching the real site.
Using Claude Code or VS Code instead
Claude Desktop is not your only option. On the same Elementor > Elementor MCP screen, pick Claude Code, generate the prompt, and paste it into Claude Code in your terminal. This suits developers who prefer the command line. For VS Code, run Claude Code in VS Code’s built-in terminal or use its extension, or choose the Other option for any MCP compatible tool. Your page building prompts work the same way in all of them.
Things to keep in mind
MCP is a new feature, so expect a few rough edges. Always review what Claude builds for accuracy, branding, accessibility and SEO. The connection has admin level access to your site, so only set it up on sites and computers you trust, and delete the application password from your WordPress user profile when you no longer need it.
Wrap up
Claude can now build real WordPress pages for you. Enable MCP, paste one prompt, and start describing pages in plain English. You stay in control of the design, and Claude handles the repetitive layout work. Your connection stays in place, so you can come back anytime to edit existing pages or add new ones to the same site.
