Copyright policy
1. Reporting infringement
FireVM expects every customer to respect copyright law when using our services. If you believe content hosted on FireVM infringes your copyright, you can notify us using the process below. This process exists specifically to handle copyright infringement claims, not general abuse reports.
Your notice should include:
2. Where to send a notice
Copyright notices need to be submitted in writing, either by email or postal mail, to our copyright team. We don’t accept copyright infringement reports through helpdesk tickets or support chat, since these notices carry legal requirements that our standard support process isn’t set up to handle.
You can find our mailing address and copyright contact email on our Contact us page, under Copyright notices (DMCA) and abuse complaints. Once we receive a valid notice, we follow the process laid out under Title II of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 USC § 512.
3. What happens after a valid claim
If FireVM receives a credible copyright complaint, or otherwise becomes aware of clear infringement on our platform, we act promptly to remove or restrict access to the material in question.
For a first violation, we may apply a $200 fee to cover our handling and mitigation costs. The account tied to the material stays suspended until that fee is settled. If it isn’t paid within 7 days, the account is permanently terminated with no refund. Any further violations after this point are handled under our repeat infringer policy below.
4. Repeat infringers
We reserve the right to terminate, at our discretion and without a refund, the account of any customer who repeatedly infringes copyright. We make this call based on the pattern and severity of the violations involved.
5. Respecting technical protection measures
FireVM won’t interfere with standard technical measures that copyright holders use to identify or protect their work, provided those measures meet a few conditions: they came out of an open, fair, and broadly agreed upon process involving both copyright owners and service providers, they’re available to anyone on reasonable, non-discriminatory terms, and they don’t create unreasonable cost or burden for our systems or network.
